Overhead Records is proud to announce that ROBOTANISTS will be showcasing at CMJ Music Marathon 2009!

Join the band on the first night of the festival in Brooklyn, NY at THE ROSE on Tuesday, October 20th. ROBOTANISTS will be headlining the show and will be joined with Brooklyn natives Backwords and Swimclub, and Cincinnati's own Come On Caboose.

CMJ Music Marathon is New York's largest music festival. This year, bands will flood the streets from October 20-24 for 5 days and nights of over 1,200 artists and 120,000 fans in more than 75 of the city's most venerable nightclubs and theaters.

ROBOTANISTS have recently inked a deal with Los Angeles based music publishing firm, Hunnypot Unlimited, joining an artist roster that includes The Mae Shi, Far East Movement, The Bloody Beetroots (Italy), Striken City (UK), Charlie Mars and others.

Hunnypot Unlimited is a unique multi-faceted Music Publishing, Marketing and Film & Television Placement organization that provides distinctive brand development through music-driven live and social events, a live radio broadcast, web and email-based promotion, a respected compilation series, management consultation and international strategic alliances.

Hunnpot is headed by CEO, John Anderson, who has spent the better part of his last 18 years in the Music Industry as an integral member of Windswept Music Publishing. "On their debut EP “Close Down the Woods,” Robotanists root around in the electro-noir explored by Mazzy Star and Portishead, with Ellquist’s sultry voice narrating the way through forays into the dark both metaphorical and literal. Their penchant for the atmospheric never becomes an overbearing aesthetic, though — you can take the title of one of their songs, “Subtlety Is Underrated,” seriously."

ROBOTANISTS named "Emerging Artist" by Filter Magazine

Filter Magazine has chosen ROBOTANISTS as one of five “Emerging Artists” to be featured online by their FREE publication, RAGGED.

Brought to you by Filter Magazine and the American Rag clothing line, RAGGED, is a magazine, devoted to bringing the worlds of music and fashion together through print and photography. Getting its start in September of 2007, RAGGED includes articles on bands from the up-and-coming underground, as well as, familiar favorites covering the best emerging talent out there - Kate Nash, Uh Huh Her, Aqualung, Delta Spirit, Phantom Planet, Eisley, Silversun Pickups, Jem, The Cinematics, The Pipettes and many more.

In addition to being named one of five “Emerging Artists”, readers voted over 1.5 MILLION TIMES over a month and overwhelmingly chose ROBOTANISTS to be featured in the spring issue of RAGGED presented by FILTER. ROBOTANISTS Strike a Pose for Charity...

ROBOTANISTS were recently the subject of a special photo shoot at Los Angeles’ Griffith Park, to help a worthy cause.

Entitled "A World Not Gray - Childhood Observed," the band spent the day recreating scenes from childhood, eating sno-cones and spraying silly string under the lens of photographer Jessy Plume, while videographer Byron Turk (Discovery Channel's Stormchasers) shot behind the scenes, and interviewed the band in between takes.

The shoot is a part of a multilevel effort to start 2009 creating awareness for Toys for Tots, with the help of numerous LA based bands. The final photos will be available for auction, in addition to one of a kind art pieces created by each of the bands involved, with all of the proceeds benefiting the charity.

All of these efforts will ultimately be culminating in an April 2009 fundraiser concert in Los Angeles, featuring local bands on the rise, and benefiting Toys for Tots.

ROBOTANISTS: Canadian Music Week, SxSW and Beyond!

With their first EP "Close Down the Woods" about to go on sale, Overhead Records proudly announces that ROBOTANISTS will be showcasing at Canadian Musicfest during Canadian Music Week Conference and Festival March 11-14, 2009 in Toronto, Canada. After which they'll be heading down to Austin for SxSW.

The group will perform at Holy Joe's on Saturday March 14th with the band Seven (from Norway) and others. Additional confirmed 2009 artists include Bloc Party, The Ting Tings,The Ettes, We are Wolves and Many More!

Now in its 26th year, Canadian Music Week is Canada’s largest and most influential media and music conference, and is the single longest running premiere music and media event focusing on the business of MUSIC, in the world, bringing together more than 360 of the world's top industry professionals for one spectacular week of concerts and events.

ROBOTANISTS' Close Down the Woods is "Beyond Breathtaking"

Robotanists recently finished their album Close Down the Woods, and before any press releases could go out... this blogger review was published.

On Wait a Minute Here: "If you’re not captivated by this song, then I don’t know how you can ever claim to have been in love and possess a heart." and... "it brings such a strong longing sense that it’s hard to properly compare it to something else. The simplicity of it adds such an epic feeling to the song. You might ask how is such possible. It’s simple, really, the fact that it feels so bare bones is how it fuels the “just out of reach” sensation of the song that the lyrics bring."

On Subtlety is Underrated: "[Ellquist's] timeless voice is the venom that takes you under after you’ve let your guard down from the music underneath it. She sings from a place that isn’t just lost in most singers of today, it’s become completely uncharted and only the brave dare to venture there."

On Close Down The Woods: "... it’s beyond breathtaking... It all goes together like finely tuned instruments in the San Francisco Symphony. But, all the glory isn’t Sarah’s alone, the music the band provides makes her voice that much more intoxicating . . . that much more alluring . . . and that much more enticing."

On Slow Motion: "[Ellquist] leaps to heights that you don’t hear female vocalists aim in either Indie Rock or even R&B much in today’s music." ..."[Phillips']timing is perfect[on percussion]. His tempo is excellent. His execution is one for the books."

On Tasteless: "...the music of this track is big. Broadway big, baby. With such a high standard set by the band, you know that Ms. Sarah Ellquist has to match their magic. Matches it she does. To be fair and honest, I haven’t heard a female belt out such powerful blasts on a studio song since the mid-90’s. Yes, I know that some of the current artists can sing with such passion and intensity, but you rarely see them performing such on their studio records. This band doesn’t play for the radio, they play for the love of the music."

Pepsi Presents: ROBOTANISTS Live in Las Vegas

While on tour this spring, Robotanists stopped by the studios of Deep Rock Drive, just steps away from the Palms in Las Vegas to perform a live podcasted concert sponsored by Pepsi.
